Robert's 1st Birthday!

Four weeks have passed since Robert's first birthday. I've been putting off writing this post because it seems like the last step in admitting that my baby is one. That twelve whole months passed in the blink of an eye. I'm already crying while writing this and I haven't even started posting pictures....this is going to be hard to get through!

I'm going to go ahead and give you a warning now: This post contains picture overload!

Robert started his birthday morning with balloons in his crib! He didn't know what to think of them at first, I think mostly because he was still half asleep, but then he decided he loved them and started bouncing all around his crib and throwing them in the air!

Robert's Papa Jim, Andrew's dad, came over that morning since he had to work and couldn't make it to his party. Robert enjoyed opening his mega-blocks trucks and card!

Now on to the party! I chose a Charlie Brown themed party for Robert. I love Charlie Brown and watch all of the holiday specials every year on tv. (I know, I'm a kid!) I also thought Robert would make an adorable Charlie Brown, considering his blonde hair gives him the bald Charlie Brown look :)

I couldn't have pulled off Robert's party without my mom and Andrew...between the three of us we made all of the decorations and food for the party. We even made Robert's cake and smash cake!
The little Charlie says "Thanks for coming!"
We started the party off with a dinner of frito chili pies and chili dogs. Then we dug into  cookies, puppy chow, cake and cupcakes. Sugar overload! I made Robert his very own smash cake that he could make a mess with and he wasn't interested at all. He just picked at the sprinkles until I eventually took his hand and smashed it into the cake for him. (Mean mom!) Then he tried figuring out how to get the frosting off his hand. If you read my Halloween post, I'm sensing a theme that he just really doesn't like getting dirty.

Clapping for himself as we sing to him!

"Mom, why did you do that?!"
Robert received so many great gifts for his birthday! To say that he is spoiled is an understatement!
A camo blanket made by our cousin, Makayla!

An activity chair from Grandma & Papa Smith!
We lost a sock...opening presents got crazy!
A bucket of coins from Nanny Norma!
One of my favorite moments of the day was of Robert with a bow on his head...he loved it and thought it was so funny!

And that's how Robert spent his first birthday...a day full of fun with those who love him most, family!

A big thank you goes out to Mia for taking all of the pictures at the party!

Halloween 2014

I'm about a week late getting these pictures posted, but I've spent all my time this past week getting ready for Robert's 1st birthday party that was held at our house yesterday. {Birthday post coming soon!}

We kicked off Halloween week by letting Robert finger-paint the pumpkin he picked out during our pumpkin patch adventure. I found a homemade, edible finger-paint recipe on Pinterest that was a mixture of flour, water, food coloring. It was also a goopy, gross, complete mess lol! Robert didn't know what to think of the paint...we pretty much had to force his hand into it and onto the pumpkin. Then he spent the rest of the time just looking at his hands, trying to figure out how to get the paint off.

Halloween Day : Andrew picked out Robert's Halloween costume this year. He said that he thought that every baby needed to be a pumpkin on their first Halloween, so Robert was a pumpkin! And what a cute pumpkin he was!

Our little pumpkin in the pumpkin patch!
Love those blue eyes!

Ready or not, trick-or-treating here we come!

1st stop: our neighbors, Toney & Melinda
Give me those pretzels!
2nd & last stop: our neighbors, Jerry & Sue
It was really cold outside this Halloween, so we only went to two houses. We spent the rest of the evening at our friends' house, The Ray's, eating dinner, making caramel apples, and passing out candy to trick-or-treaters. Our boys enjoyed playing with each other and seeing all the kids come to the door in their costumes!
