Valentine's Weekend + Snow!

This year we celebrated Valentine's Day all weekend! Robert and I kicked off the holiday on Friday by taking Andrew lunch on his lunch break at work. We also delivered his present, a new coffee tumbler filled with one of his favorite candies - FaveReds Starburst. When we got home Robert went down for a nap and I made sugar cookies that we decorated later that evening.

The next morning Andrew and Robert snuck out of the house while I was still sleeping to get me coffee from Starbucks and the most beautiful bouquet of light pink roses and lilies (my fave!). I also got the cutest card from Robert (that Andrew made). It has all of Robert's favorite things that he likes to do with me. Heart = melted.

 

That morning we also made chocolate covered strawberries. Robert may have had some of his breakfast banana dipped in chocolate too ;) He also got to eat his sugar cookie after he finished eating breakfast.

 

 

Later that morning, Grandma Smith and Aunt Ashley brought over Valentine's for Robert, including balloons, cards, animal crackers, goldfish and mini M&M's. Needless to say, he was on sugar overload! Then we went out to deliver all of Robert's Valentine cookies to his friends. That afternoon Grammie, Aunt Sarah, Daniel and Alex came over to watch Robert while Andrew and I went to a delicious sushi dinner and to see a movie. Aunt Sarah sent Andrew this precious picture while we were at dinner....Robert wore Grammie out!

 

The next morning Andrew and I made Valentine's pancakes. We made some regular pancakes and some pink pancakes (made with red food coloring) and used a heart-shaped cookie cutter to interchange the hearts. This was Robert's first time eating pancakes and he was a big fan!

 

We finished Valentine's weekend by hanging out and relaxing at the house in our pj's all day and Andrew let me pick out a chick-flick to watch while Robert napped that afternoon :)

 

Late Sunday night a winter storm hit our town. There was sleet hitting Robert's window and it was thunder-snowing, but to my surprise Robert slept right through it all! Andrew had to work on Monday (boo!), but we took Robert out to play in the snow as soon as Andrew got home from work. This was Robert's first time in the snow and he loved it!

 

Yes, mommy hit him with a snowball! He thought it was hilarious!

Halloween 2014

I'm about a week late getting these pictures posted, but I've spent all my time this past week getting ready for Robert's 1st birthday party that was held at our house yesterday. {Birthday post coming soon!}  

 

We kicked off Halloween week by letting Robert finger-paint the pumpkin he picked out during our pumpkin patch adventure. I found a homemade, edible finger-paint recipe on Pinterest that was a mixture of flour, water, food coloring. It was also a goopy, gross, complete mess lol! Robert didn't know what to think of the paint...we pretty much had to force his hand into it and onto the pumpkin. Then he spent the rest of the time just looking at his hands, trying to figure out how to get the paint off.

 

Halloween Day : Andrew picked out Robert's Halloween costume this year. He said that he thought that every baby needed to be a pumpkin on their first Halloween, so Robert was a pumpkin! And what a cute pumpkin he was!

It was really cold outside this Halloween, so we only went to two houses. We spent the rest of the evening at our friends' house, The Ray's, eating dinner, making caramel apples, and passing out candy to trick-or-treaters. Our boys enjoyed playing with each other and seeing all the kids come to the door in their costumes!

Easter

I hope you all had a great Easter! We've had absolutely gorgeous weather this weekend, which made the celebration of Christ's rising that much more beautiful!

This was Robert's first Easter and it hit me harder than I ever could have imagined. Friday night as I was rocking my son to sleep I was reflecting on what that day meant. God had sent His Son to die for me, for us, so that we may have life. I was only enjoying that perfect moment with my son because God had sacrificed His. Oh how thankful I am for His love! And I hope you know His love too!

Now on to how we celebrated Easter! Robert and I went to my parent's house for lunch (Andrew stayed home sick, poor guy). My mom is seriously the BEST cook I know! We went for a non-traditional menu of steak and baked potatoes, which definitely hit the spot! I made The Country Cook's Coconut Cream Poke Cake. I had pinned this recipe quite some time ago and it did not disappoint! It was easy to make and was the perfect dessert for our Easter lunch.

 



  

Let's talk about how cute my little bunny was! 

I debated whether or not to buy him a dress-up outfit of khakis and a plaid shirt. I eventually decided that I had years ahead of me that I could dress him like that, but how long could I get away with him wearing a bunny on his bum? This was the only chance I had!

 

And of course he was spoiled with Easter presents from my mom, sister, MIL & FIL!

Easter wasn't the same without Andrew and my Papa at lunch. My Papa is currently in rehab recovering from a broken hip, so we went to see him before we headed home. He sure does love his great-grandson!

Andrew and I finished the evening with dinner with my FIL and finally watching Frozen, which I absolutely loved!
